How To Get To Lake Como, Italy And Best Things To Do
Lake Como or the posh Italian retreat where the rich and famous hobnob is picture perfect and is the definition of the sweet Italian life. Picturesque lake, glamorous hotels, and the meeting place of George and Amal Clooney, Lake Como has all the makings of that Hollywood happy ending. Here are our top picks for this beautiful northern Italian spot.
How To Get There
Getting to Como is pretty straightforward. You take an hour-long train from Milan and it is as easy as that. Tickets can be bought easily at the station itself.
While a day trip is probably feasible, we recommend a day or two (maybe a weekend) to spend at this idyllic town by the lake. Traveling through towns around the lake Como is best done by ferry services and you can buy the tickets at the terminals.
Buses are also available to connect you to the bigger towns of Como and Lecco as well as some of the smaller lakeside towns.

Lake Como Things to do
Shaped like an upside Y, Lago Di Como is fringed with beautiful gardens, luxurious villas and picturesque spots. The Duomo dating back to the 15th century is right in the center of the city, which is an aesthetic mix of Gothic and Renaissance influences.
Cruises along the lake Como is a good way to see not just the pretty scenes, but also some of the celeb homes, such as that of Richard Branson and George Clooney to name a few. Go along the lake and take pictures that will make your social media go big on the hearts.
One such village that the ferry can take you to is Varenna. Pretty hued houses around the harbor, sprawling gardens and its walled castle Castello di Vezio, greet visitors who keep coming back for more. Tremezzo, Menaggio and Bellagio, which is probably the most famous, are other little towns around the lake that you can visit.
When in Como, do as the rich and famous do. Visiting one of the many luxury villas is an absolute must and we recommend Villa del Balbianello. The villa offers a captivating view of the lake and can be reached either on boat or a short hike. The villa goes back to the 16th century and its flourishing garden only adds to its appeal of history, architecture and nature.
Como is home to some of fashion’s biggest brands and shopping here is a fashion enthusiast’s delight. Known for its silk, Como is the right place to invest in that silk scarf or tie that you have been meaning to get for some time now.
Jungle Raider Park is our pick for those who seek adventure in the peace and quiet of this Italian lake. The park offers everything from ziplines and bungee jumping and also has a special section dedicated to children and beginners to adventure. A fun day for all, we say!
