Discovering The Loch Ness Lake, It’s Monster & Sightseeing

Loch Ness is perhaps Scotland’s most popular tourist attraction. Each year, people from across the globe visit the 24 mile stretch of water for its incredible beauty. It is simply one of many lakes hidden among the overwhelming countryside of Scotland, and as well as one of the most rewarding.

Inverness is the best starting point for a visit around the Loch Ness. Inverness, capital of the Highland Province in Scotland is located at a strategic point where the waters of Loch flow out into the Moray Firth. Every view along the river are very inspiring, Inverness Castle sits high up on the river bank as a photographer’s favorite.

Loch Ness is 15kms the south-west of Inverness and so tourists should use the A82 road towards Drumnadrochit that is on the north side of the Loch. Spectacular views of the lake can be among the trees all the way to the hilly road. Roughly, a third of the way to the north shore the ruins of Urquhart Castle hove into view.

Onward to the north shore, you are taken through the hamlet of Inver Moriston before getting to Fort Augustus, which is at the southwestern tip of the lake. At Fort Augustus the stair lock system at the Caledonian Canal are seen. The Canal started in 1803, by an industrial architect, known as Thomas Telford. If you are looking to tour the lake by boat, Fort Augustus is the ideal place to do that from.

On the southern side the setting becomes wild. The single track roads enfold the undulating shore. The south side is a lot more tranquil, but the 100-foot falls at the Foyer are a wonderful sight! At Dores, which is towards the end of the northeast of the lake, a small road twists into the hills towards the south. Here you’ll find many smaller lochs nestled at an altitude between steeply-sloped mountains. This is perfect if you are looking for the best in beautiful Scotland scenery.

There are too many stories of Monster, although there is no evidence that such creature exist in this lake, but still many people believe on it. If you want visit The Loch Ness just for discovering the monster than my advise is think again.
